Who We Are » Diocesan House

The See of the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Bishop’s Office, with his attending staff, is called Diocesan House.

For more than the decade prior to the episcopacy of the Rt. Rev. Michael L. Vono, Diocesan House was located in a building in an office park near the intersection of Montgomery and Carlisle boulevards. The facility often was described as resembling a dentist’s office.

The year following Bishop Vono’s consecration in 2010, the Diocese purchased the Spiritual Renewal Center off Coors Boulevard, and embarked on construction of what would become The Bosque Conference and Retreat Center. The office park site was sold and the staff moved into rooms in the existing retreat center residences.

At Diocesan Convention in October 2012 the Bosque Center was blessed and dedicated, and the staff moved into Diocesan House. The Bosque facility provides a center for the Diocese, a place where all are welcomed to gather and renew amidst the trees and quiet of the Bosque along the Rio Grande.
